The best part about a blizzard is...

Yep, we are in middle of a big blizzard.  The storm path shifted a bit so it is not quite as bad as was originally forcasted, but still lots of snow.  We've got about 20" so far and up to another 6" could fall before it ends later today.  The 30+mph wind gusts are creating crazy drifts around my yard and I can't wait to get out in it tomorrow to see exactly how deep.  But for now, a peek out onto my deck shows about a 3' ridge alongside the pool.  I can't help but laugh!  It was almost bare 24 hours ago.

Most of our state is still under a travel ban this morning, and wind chills are around zero degrees right now (in my house also known as "I can't feel my face" degrees).  So what is a girl to do?  Hunker down and have a crafting jammie day of course, lol!!  And that is the best part of a blizzard!   :)

I hope that all of my east coast peeps are weathering the weather just fine, and I hope you all are having a fun jammie & crafting day too.  Stay warm and be safe!

Christmas Ornament & Card

I know I said I was done with Christmas and ready for Valentine's, but oops, I lied!  Lookie what I found - two more Christmas projects to post!

A spindle ornament from SVG Cuts

Look at all that shimmery sparkle!  The paper is from the same DCWV pad that I used on the Mistletoe Manor.  Sooooo pretty!  I love the shape of this but the original file makes a pretty large ornament, so I shrunk it down a bit to 6".  It wasn't too hard to assemble at that size, but any smaller and I think it would get a little tricky.  And the glue didn't stick as quickly on this paper because of the glitter, so maybe plain papers would be easier too.  But it was worth it all because I LOVE this style!   The svg kit has a few ornaments that I really love, and I will have to start earlier next year so I can get a chance to make them all.  (can you say New Year Resolution??  heehee!)

And my last Christmas project (I promise!!) is a card I made for my daughter's teachers, bus driver, school staff and a few of my special peeps.

I needed to make a dozen cards and wanted something simple because I was running late getting them started, but I didn't want something too plain.  I found this super cute design by Nic Squirrel in the Silhouette Design Store.  I wasn't sure if I liked the stars in the original design so I took them out and added some tiny punched snowflakes instead.  I used Bazzill Bling white paper for a little shimmery touch, but I decided it needed more sparkle so I added crystal gems to the snowflakes.  Simple card, but I really like the end result with the shimmer and bling.

So that's it!  Now on to Valentine's.  :)

Mistletoe Manor

Are you tired yet of me playing catch-up and posting Christmas projects?  Sorry, lol!  But I'm almost done, and I saved the best for last to show you....
Mistletoe Manor!

Can you believe how crazy awesome this design is?  It literally took my breath away when I saw it on SVG Cuts.  I didn't add much for extra details, just a wreath and pine spray, and I popped up the shutters a bit with foam tape.  But gosh, you can really have fun with this by adding tons of bling along the roof lines and window trims.  And I've seen some where folks have added all sorts of porch decorations.  Wow!

Do you see all that sparkle?   Ohhhhhh I LOVE that paper!  I stumbled across it at Michael's during one of their one day pre-Christmas sales (gotta love those! hee hee!) and I grabbed the last one.  It's by DCWV.  The fine glitter doesn't rub off and it cuts sooo nice in my Cameo.  But I couldn't find pure white glitter paper for the roof top snow, so I used some Bazzill Bling and a snowflake embossing folder- and I think I actually like that option even better.  Don't you love it when that happens?

And this beauty is huge!  It's almost 12"x12" and about 14" tall.  Plus, in true "Mary" form, it opens up and can be used as an amazing gift box, or you can add lights inside for a nightlight decoration.  Wow, again!

I actually made two of these (identical) as gifts, but I can't wait to make another and try some other pattern and color combinations and maybe even go a little crazy with pearl decorations.  ;)

Dear sweet Mary- you hit it out of the park this time!

Birthday Owls

My daughter and her boyfriend have birthdays only a couple days apart, so I decided to make cards for them that coordinate and I selected some Studio Ilustrado files from the Silhouette Design Store.

I used "Owl Style" and "Owl Music" to create shaped cards, added silver mirror paper in the lens of the sunglasses, some Diamond Glaze on the frames, (yes, he does own glasses exactly like these, lol!), and added a little embossing.  Voila!  Fun birthday owls!

Simple Christmas Shadow Box

I love printer trays and shadow box displays.  I love Graphic 45.  I love K&Company.  I love quick and simple when in a pinch.  Add those together and what do you get?  A last minute gift for my daughter!

My original idea was to fill most of the spaces with family photos but I couldn't narrow down the pretty pattern papers, so I decided to save the photos for another project and just go with a Christmas collage theme.  She loved it!
